Phoenix Prep and Dynastie Institute are the final game tonight in the opening day of the Grind Sessions Rising Sun event here in Arizona.  Phoenix Prep is 6-1 in the Grind session this season and Dynastie Academy is 0-3 in their first year of Grind Session action.

Jahki Gupton the junior from Oakland California won the tip for Phoenix tapping the ball to Jayson Petty who drove to the bucket and was fouled.  The 6’ 3” senior from Phoenix made 1 of 2 foul shots to give the Phoenix Fire a 1-0 lead. Garrett Anderson drove the middle to score a layup for the Fire followed by a short jumper from Dynasties Anthony Gibson-Maxwell a forward from Montreal to make the early score 3-2 Phoenix.

The scoring was even in the first 5 minutes of the game until Rickey Bradley JR threw a long pass to Pierce Bazil who layed the ball in giving the Fire a 11-8 lead with 10:35 left in the first half.  Bazil then was fouled and hit both foul shots followed by Bradley being fouled who hit both shots too. Petty scored on his missed shot follow up and then scored on a fast break drive to the bucket and quickly the Fire had a 21-12 lead.

Pierce Bazil woke the crowd up with a two-handed dunk on the fast break and then hit a deep three and the Fire were up 31-17 with less than a minute left in the half.   Elijah Muhammad was fouled down low for Phoenix and hit both charity shots to close out the scoring in the half with the score Phoenix 33, and Dynastie 17.

Phoenix started the second half with a running shot by Vincent Delano who was fouled and hit both free throws.  Bradley scored on a dribble drive in the key followed by a tip in by Elijah Muhammad and the Fire were quicky up 39-17.

At this point Phoenix prep just took over the game.  Muhammad, Petty and Delano all had scores and with tough team defense the Fire had a commanding 45-19 point lead with 14:02 left to play in the contest.

Dynastie made a short run to cut the lead to 22 points, but after that it was all Phoenix Fire.  Final score was 77-50 with Rickey Bradley being named player of the game. Rickey had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal with 1 block.

Next up for Phoenix Prep is Minnesota Prep in the event final game on Sunday afternoon.
